Hardwood flooring adds a luxurious, timeless look to any home. But before you can enjoy your beautiful new floors, the process of installation must be completed. At Floor Advisor in Alexandria, Gainesville, and Leesburg, Virginia, we understand that for many of our customers, this is an unfamiliar process and may be a source of stress. That’s why we’re here to help! Read on to learn what to expect when having hardwood floors installed by Floor Advisor.

Choosing a Type of Hardwood

Homeowners looking to upgrade their floors now have the choice between two types of hardwood: Solid and Engineered. With solid, you can expect all-natural wood planks as well as further customization options down the line with sanding or refinishing.  Engineered provides a more budget-friendly option while being ideal for those who don’t want traditional nail installation.

We understand the importance of being transparent when preparing a quote, so we break down all costs associated with the project and provide detailed descriptions of each service included, so you know what to expect before we begin any work. Floor Advisor also offers flexible payment solutions to help make sure your floors are installed without any financial roadblocks. Our team stands by our commitment to installation without compromising on quality for an efficient job done right. Floor Advisor is ready to answer any questions you may have and help make sure installing your new hardwood floors is a stress-free process.

Preparation

Before the installation begins, there are some steps that must be taken in order to ensure that everything goes smoothly. First and foremost, the existing floor must be prepped for the new flooring. This includes removing any existing carpet or vinyl as well as any existing glue or adhesives. Once this has been done, the subfloor must be inspected for any damage or unevenness that could cause issues during installation. If necessary, repairs will need to be made first before moving forward.

Installation Process

Once everything has been prepared and all the materials have been delivered, it’s time to begin installing your new hardwood floors! The exact process will depend on whether you’ve chosen solid hardwoods (which require nails) or engineered hardwoods (which are usually installed with glue). In either case, our team at Floor Advisor is experienced and knowledgeable – they’ll walk you through each step of the process so that you know exactly what’s happening every step of the way.

Completion

Once your new hardwood floors have been installed, it’s time for the finishing touches! If desired, our team can sand and stain your newly-installed floors for a more polished look. Additionally, if needed we can also install baseboard trim and shoe molding around the perimeter of your new hardwood floors for a finished look. Finally, once all these steps are complete we will inspect the entire area one final time in order to ensure everything looks great and performs optimally!
